THE FIRST thing that strikes one about Fabindia is the spacious area and a bright and cheerful look. It is not just the brand, but for the mind-boggling range of goods, sprawling area and the elegant interiors are bound to entice one to revisit.
What's better than home-spun cotton and khadi. With eco-friendly being the buzzword in today's parlance and considering the torrid heat we are facing (thanks to environmental degradation), cotton, khadi and jute seem to be the preferred fabrics. It has become fashionable to wear cotton. And Fabindia is the place, which stocks much of that under one roof.
It stocks an enormous range of ethnic garments and furnishing fabrics. From men's wear, women's wear, infant and children's wear to upholstery, bed linen, table linen, durries, lamp bases and shades to a smattering of pottery and stationery - the store has something for everybody and every home.
Amongst the many things Fabindia stocks, it is the large chunk of readymade garments which are the most popular. Printed and woven, they are available in different colours and sizes and can be picked off the shelves easily. For men there are shirts (full and half sleeves), jackets, ties and kurtas. The range for women is impressive - Indian and Western wear. Kurtas (short and long for women) can be mixed and matched with salwars/churidars and dupattas. Tops (long and short), capris, pants, skirts, caps and maternity gowns are also on offer. The plain off-white ribbed kurtas are worth a purchase as they can be coordinated with anything. Although most of the stuff is cotton, there is a bit of silk (kurtas and dupattas). For infants and children there is everything from night wear to lehngas and salwar kameez. All the garments are neatly arranged on the shelves and marked with the size tags.
If you want to redecorate your house in ethnic style then the furnishing section is the place to see. For the range of fabrics and textures gives you ample options to choose from. Different sizes of bedsheets, table cloths, cushion covers, table mats and towels are available giving the consumer wide options. Quilts and durries can also be matched to the above. Ready to hang curtains are another feature of the store. To go with the décor some lamp bases and shades can also be picked up.
A small section of stationery has handmade paper, photo frames, address books and files and the ceramic section includes a few tea sets and mugs.
If you choose to jump onto the ethnic bandwagon then Fabindia is the place to start. But maybe the prices with clothes are a bit too high...maybe buying the same cloth and getting it stiched would cost lesser. But all done and set would carry off an extra price with it, which wouldn't hamper our shopping at Fab India!!!

Latitudes Pro -- The most picking up Health Club
I have joined this health club recently. I did hear a lot of stuff about it before joining..a few tag lines which said, the biggest gym in India and a few more of such kind(which have gone out of my mind..OutOfMemoryException thrown).
Well, i have to say it does stand to most of the stuff that those tag lines said, sophisticated equipment, cool environment, helping guides/trainers and all that you want to have for a health club. The best part is the decent locality and the decent crowd that comes there, which would keep you comfortable doing all those fitness programs with no hesitation or embarrassment...!!!
The equipments such as ellipticals or cross trainers, exercycles, treadmills have a TV set fitted onto it..so u can exercise ur way watching TV..!!!
I'm not sure how to exactly calculate or of the method to go ahead and analyse whether it's worth the value of the money that u put into it...but i've to say there are a lot of joining/membership plans and you can chose the one that fits you the best!!

"Indianised" Chinese at Yo! China
This one is for people looking out for new places to eat or pick up food at, especially if you want the so called "indianised" or "spicy" chinese food. This place is located right at the heart of the city, opposite central, so if you looking for something cheap and different i would suggest "Yo China!" against all those restaurants around there, namely, the crowded and a li'l costly Ohri's at Central, the same old food-ed Shanbagh, the good vegetarian stuffed Chutneys, the idle Hub, the costly Seventh Heaven, the not-so well known Harah's and many more to name within its vicinity.
You have two options here, either you can opt for a take-away or sit there and have your food. The take-away is limited to chowmein (that's what noodles are called here), fried-rice and two curries (manchuria and chilly chicken, i think!!!). These are available on a small yellow trolley outside the restaurant and you can just name it and take it. The other option as mentioned is to sit inside and watch the traffic of the Panjagutta cross roads and order from the wide variety of food (combos also available!!) on the menu.
Now, i would suggest take away as the better option there as chowmein is what the restaurant is good for and also the service inside the restaurant needs to be improved as the number of waiters and servers are less in number when compared to the crowd walking-in. They are less experienced in the work they do and this shows in their service, but this is made up with their cheerful faces and i'm sure, it's just a matter of time that they would surely learn to manage all that and improve on their service.
It wouldn't take more that five minutes for ordering, paying and walking away with your choice in the take-away option. If you still insist on sitting inside and having your food, there are many rooms playing different channels on the TV, chose the one playing your favourite channel, as your food will take a long time to reach you. And as an important note, do check your bill, for your server might give you someone's bill..this did happen to me!!
Well, as a last note...the prices of take-away are very reasonable and in case you want to go for the combo, i would suggest a double one as it's more reasonable than a single combo. You get an extra curry in the double for not more than approximately the price of a Single combo + Rs20/-.

There's more to it than the tag, "just for couples"!
Secret Lake usually goes with the tag, "just for couples". I was under this impression for long until I visited it for an official get together that erased the fault line in my mind. Loitering is not the only pick here, as in any park; you have an option to boat in the idyllic lake. Angling and water sports are also provided at nominal rates.
Ample space for a get-together or gathering consisting of 200-300 people can be arranged as the park equips itself with an open stage and a stadium-like seating arranged. There is a huge place provided for discotheque, but I think you need to get the DJ yourself!! The food can be arranged alongside the beautifully illuminated natural rock formations. The waterfall from these rocks adds to the aesthetic beauty that would appeal to your soul and let you enjoy the dining.
Any simple get together on an evening, I would suggest you to book this place, especially if it's a summer evening, this destination is a must. Added with disco and good food would make your party rock!! If you are looking for an evening to rejuvenate with something new, try boating or the other water-based activities here, I'm sure it would be worth the try.
